JOSEPH LINCOLN,ACCORD,MA.
Solid Black Duck with a slightly turned head in swimming pose. It is branded on the bottom in large letters HH-ACCORD which I attribute to Herbert Hatch who was a close friend of Lincoln. It is possible that Hatch could have produced this decoy with direct assistance from Lincoln. However, it is to sophisticated a decoy for Hatch to have produced on his own. This decoy was in overpaint and taken down to the original paint, some of which on the sides was worn to the lead base paint. Rare posture for Lincoln and a very graceful piece of work.
Willie Ross,Chebeague Island,Maine
Red Breasted Merganser by Willie Ross of Maine in mostly original paint Ca. 1910. Body paint is all original with a professional partial bill repair as well as some touch-up hunter paint to the front part of the head adjacent to the bill. Great form with his sleak wider body design which is one of two types and the most desired by collectors. Inlet head with anchor point on the bottom and the initials AWH. Outstanding example of this great Maine carvers work.
Ben Holmes,Stratford,CT.
Ben Holmes Broadbill working decoy example in bold form and second old coat of gunning paint by Holmes himself. Decoy was hunted over quite a bit, but still maintains it's old structural condition in the great Conneticut school example of this carvers work. Nice decoy from the Northeast!
CHARLES STRUMFELS,BRISTOL,PA.
Very early Drake Pintail in bold form and O.P. Condition is original except the tail as I believe it was professional replaced with a metal tail that looks original. Ca.1900, this outstanding old working Toller is hollow with a center line joint as seen. Some natural old in-use wear to the paint as well as a small area of crackling on the left front breast.
JOE KING,PARKERTOWN,N.J.
Drake Old Squaw (Long Tailed Duck) popular in places like the Northeast region. In Maine we often gun for these after our Eider shoot has concluded. They are very fast and good decoys like this one make all the difference. Original paint as well as condition for this working decoy example from Joe King with nice form and wonderful patina. A few in-use rubs to the paint tips as shown. A very good example of this carvers work!
UNIDENTIFIED SLAT GOOSE,MA.ORIGIN
Large oversize slat Goose very similar to the work of Joe Lincoln in original and structurally sound condition. White paint to tail and base of decoy is in gunning touch-up in-use as this decoy spent time being hunted over. Great form and a very nice piece of folk art. Head is a very good example of an advanced carver with original tack eyes and carved bill.
Yellow Legs, New Jersey
Very old hunting decoy from the New Jersey area as identified by Frank Schmidt. Maker is uncertain. Yellow Legs is certainly very old and has great form in a second partial coat of old gunning touch-up. Retains the original glass eyes.
Willie Ross,Chebeague Island,Maine
Outstanding pair of very early Willie Ross Whistlers in what is considered to be Ross's best form. Mint original condition with what appears to be a second old coat of hunter touch-up related to in-use gunning wear to the white areas on both decoys and the head and bill of the Drake. The bill on the Drake may have been repaired, although very well done. Very slight wear to the paint on the tip of the Drake's bill. These decoys were both found laying on the dirt floor of a shed on Chebeague Island a short distance from the workshop that once stood where Ross carved his decoys. These working Tollers have never left the Island until now.
JOSEPH LINCOLN,ACCORD MA.
Joseph Lincoln canvas over slat Canada Goose in original structural condition. Second coat of paint is an old coat by Lincoln himself. This decoy was heavily used to hunt over and shows several shot marks. Paint shows crackling from the weather, but overall a good example of his work.

Willie Ross,Chebeague Island,Maine
Very old Willie Ross Drake Goldeneye that spent it's entire life on the island until recently. The decoy is in great structural condition with an old well worn second coat of gunning paint applied 40 plus years ago by the maker. The head has the classic dowel showing as a slight bump on the top of the head and the decoy which has spent a lot of time being hunted over is solid and flat bottomed with an old piece of anchor rope and the forward eye hook still attatched. Small chip under the bill. A classic Maine decoy!!
Green Wing Teal,Unidentified From New Jersey Attributed.
Very nice Green Wing teal Ca. 1940 attributed to the New Jersey region. Working decoy is in original paint as well as condition. Rigged for hunting with a small weight midline on the bottom with the original leather strap applied with a screw. Very nice wet over wet paint blending technique with scratch feather paint to approx. one half of the feather detail as shown. Detailed bill carving as well as raised tail feathers.

Unidentified Redhead,Attributed New Jersey
Stylish and quite old Redhead with V bottom and ice groove on the back. Decoy also once had a dog bone weight which can be seen from the imprint it left in the wood. Probably early New Jersey in fine comb paint which is probably an old second coat possibly by the maker, not recent. Tack Eyes with false inlet head and just a great decoy to look at. This would make a great addition to any collection.
