Very rare pair of rigmate Mason standard grade Pintails with original glass eyes. Ca. 1908, this nicely matched pair in strong original paint is as good as you will find! No cracks or defects noted except a couple of very small rubs to the paint. Rich mellow patina with neck filler intact as well as retention of the original glass eyes. This is a pair for only the most serious of collectors! Please ask for additional photo's.

Peterson Hen Blue Wing Teal. Here is a decoy that should not be for sale for very long. Not just rare, but almost impossible to find in any condition, let alone in this near Mint example. Ca. 1880 with 3 shot marks and a small ding where a knot in the wood once existed on the right forward side of the Toller as shown.O.P as well as condition. Nice addition to any factory collection.

Ca. 1910 The best example of a rare and hard to find true Challenge Grade Mason Hen Mallard in original paint as well as mint condition! Masons best Snakey Head style in strong paint with a very deep orange breast color which is a true sign of an old original challenge grade Hen Mallard. Outstanding Peterson early Blue Wing Teal in original paint. Ca. 1875 in structurally outstanding condition with various areas of minor rubs to the paint. This is a glass eye standard grade drake with neck filler added long ago. This is a very hard to find truly original honest working decoy which is a rare find for any Mason collector. Retains original glass eyes and paint is still very good for such an old Toller.

Ca. 1910 Superb Snakey Headed example in strong highly attentive oriented Challenge style paint. This is the rigmate to the Hen we have listed. Very small ding to the top of the bill as well as a small amount of in-use wear to the tips of the paint as shown. Couple of small paint rubs to the tail area with most of neck filler gone. Fine mellow patina in this highly excellent example of Mason at it's finest!!

Early standard grade with original glass eyes,Ca.1910. Blue Wing Teal Drake in 100% original paint as well as condition. In-use gunning wear to paint as shown with loss or original factory primer on left shoulder due to knot in wood. Loss of neck filler of about 75%. Head is intact however and is not loose. Small chip on the bottom along the right rear bottom side. Fine feathering and still a good amount of all original paint remaining. 121/2" x 41/2" x 51/2".

Extremely Rare Widgeon by Benz wood products. Their Grand Prix model which is near mint O.P. and condition. This decoy was weighted for hunting,but was never used as such. Great Horned Wooden Owl in very good original paint as well as condition. Some in-use wear, very minor. The putty around the long bear claw is missing in addition to the wedge that holds one hardwood ear, some touch up to the white on the breast and brown on the tail,as well as some roughness on the tip of the tail. Retains original glass eyes and is a Balsa body decoy. Ca. 1948.

Herters Dove JY

Herter's Inc.,Waseca,MN.
RARE prototype Dove by Herters in mint original paint as well as condition. Dove retains the original glass eyes. Herter's made a Dove back in the 1940's which was discontinued in 1948, when they began to produce the "1893" series in the late 1960's. They experimented with different models before they went into production, this prototype Dove was made using a blank black bellied Plover, but never went into commercial production. A ONE OF A KIND! Ca. 1968.

Hays Glasseye Drake Canvasback

Hays Mfg., Co., Jefferson City,Mo.
These decoys are often mistaken for Masons. This I believe to be actually a Hayes Superior Grade glass eye model. Hays did a good job copying the shape of the Mason, but the paint detail was seldom as good. Although this was a later factory, there are less examples of this company as the output compared to Mason was limited. Appears to be original paint as well as condition with the exception of neck repair work. Nice decoy for any factory collection.

Rare Waquoit Factory Decoy

Waquoit Factory,Waquoit Harbor Cape Cod,MA.
Very old and rare factory decoy from the Waquoit factory on Cape Cod Massachusetts,Ca. 1940's. This Merganser was seldom done by this factory and they are thought to have produced less than 2,500 decoys. The body is all original paint as well as condition with a neck repair as well as a second coat of gunning paint to the neck and head. The eyes are all original and are a very unusual "button" tack-eye design. Very nice form and outstanding structural condition make this an investment grade decoy and an unusual and rare find for any collector interested in factory decoys. Decoy is solid and is of round bottom design and was used to gun over. Nice detail to the bill with notched mandible carving.

Hen and drake rigmates by Al Ries of Tru-Dux CO. of Chicago Illinois. Very good O.P. and overall condition with in-use gunning wear to the points of the paint on the drake. Near mint on the hen with both decoys retaining the glass eyes. Great form and bold paint detail in this factory which is one of my favorites. Mason Hen Blue Bill PL

Ca. 1920 Hen Blue Bill in original paint as well as condition. The drake examples are plentiful. However, the Hens especially in good condition are much harder to find. Neck filler has been replaced and head was turned slightly left when reset. Good Mason feather detail on this Detroit grade glass eye example. Small knot present on the lower left side with a small nick to the end of the bill with in-use minimal paint loss as shown. Four holes drilled in bottom where weight once was attatched. Very good hard to find Hen example!

Drake bluebill by the Peterson factory. Old hunting toller in very good O.P. The decoy has seen a lot of time in the marsh and as such has a few dings as well as a small hole in the top of the head along with a few small shallow chips along the body. Bold paint with nice swirl technique on the breast,original Peterson glass eyes,detailed carving to the bill in this #1 Grade example as defined by this factory in the production of their decoys. A true antique factory decoy from the days of Market Gunning. Ca.1883 or possibly earlier.
