Reynolds Mallards In Original Box

Reynolds Decoy Factory,Chicago,IL. F39
Mint condition complete set of folding Reynolds Mallards. Original paint as well as condition with original box in very good condition. Circa 1910,this is the first of the companies three decoy patents, this one actually being assigned on August first,1905, patent #796,147. Known as the " Illinois River Folding Wooden Decoy Ducks", these were constructed with one Hen between two Drakes. The patented spring and hinge acted to keep the decoys closed when not in use and open when used. Notice the comb paint done by James Reynold's himself. Made in sets of four, the earliest example came in this dove tailed wooden box as shown with the carrying handle.A great example of this factory and a very, very rare find!

The Factory Decoys Of Petersen,Dodge and Mason.

NEW BOOK! DETROIT DYNASTY. THE FACTORY DECOYS OF PETERSEN,DODGE,AND MASON. F3
Other books have been written on the subject of factory decoys, particularly Mason decoys. Yet,many questions in the minds of collectors remained. This void was the catalyst for this book which eliminates a lot of the uncertainty about the decoys produced by Mason, Dodge and Petersen. This is a landmark publication and a must have for all collectors, dealers and auction houses as it serves as a template for all of us to revisit the identification of decoys in our factory collections. The considerable material(350 pages with 500 photos and illustrations) in this book is the result of more than twenty years of research by the authors Bill Dodge and Ronald Sharp. These decoys are often mistaken for Masons. This I believe to be actually a Hayes Superior Grade glass eye model.
