  • California's largest sporting collectible show is scheduled for March 12th &
    13th, 2010

    The Santa Rosa Fishing Tackle, Duck Decoy, Sporting Collectible Show is held in the heart of Wine Country. It will take place at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building, 1541 Maple Avenue. (Off. Hwy. 12, across from the Sonoma County Fairgrounds. )

    There will be 150 or more tables offering quality sporting collectibles. Among these will be fishing rods, reels, lures and creels. Duck decoys, knives, books, memorabilia and art work. A featured event will be Paul Arness of King City, Ca. who will be carving Duck decoys with hand tools, Noel Silverman will have 8 tables of duck decoys, Bill Goeruie will have 6 tables of Duck decoys, Harry Marx will have 4 tables of Duck decoys, Hugh Chatham will show creels and reels, Lorne and Yuriko Hursch of angling Artifacts from L.A will show 3 tables, Jim Adams will sell rods and reels,Terry Ow will be showing reels, Terry Farris will be tying flies, Lyle and Donna Bainbridge from Montana will be showing 8 tables of fishing tackle, knives, books, and art work.

    This is the 16th year Red Johnson has promoted this show. Exhibitors and buyers across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Asia have participated in this show.

  • “Gunnin’ Birds” by Kroghie Andresen: Earns National Award

    Matthews, NC – December 8, 2009: The Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals recently announced that Kroghie Andresen’s book, Gunnin’ Birds, earned a Platinum MarCom Award in the Book Production category at the 2009 Marketing Communications competition. There were more than 5,000 entries from across the United States and around the world, with approximately 15% of the entries earning Platinum Awards.

    Designed by Matthews - based graphic design firm SPARK Publications, the 380-page, hardcover, full-color volume features the personal collection of Kroghie Andresen, a retired Wachovia Bank executive. Andresen amassed more than 1,100 decoys and 30 years of stories from duck hunters and decoy collectors along the North Carolina coastal region. A number of his decoys are currently on display at the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh in an exhibit called Art Ducko: Waterfowl Culture in North Carolina.

    Gunnin’ Birds is an extensive, detailed book that captures the passion of its author. The historic photographs and colorful stories in the book will appeal to anyone who loves the sport of duck hunting and the pursuit of prized decoys.“One of the best aspects of working on a project like this is to be able to transform the client’s vision into a well-designed and marketable book,” says Fabi Preslar, SPARK Publications president and creative director, “and then watch it succeed.”
